Sue Malikowski has a sophisticated aesthetic and a gentle design touch. A true designer, she likes to do lots of exploration and talk through concepts. She's done many book cover designs for me over the years, and while her style is versatile, all of her designs feature pleasing palettes and a legible type approach. I always know my projects are in good hands with Sue – and it is such a pleasure to work with her.

"My publisher selected Susan (DesignLeafStudio) to work on the book cover for my book Be a Project Motivator: Unlock the Secrets of Strength-Based Project Management. I was so impressed by the way Susan took my bag of loosely formed ideas, favorite images and general desires for a book cover that was not "the usual style for project management books" and turned that into the cover I have today. I fell in love with the cover and had it taped to my wall during all the edits as a reminder of what I was working towards. Seeing that cover kept my energy high and my focus on the end goal!

Once the book was complete, I contacted Susan again to have her create a logo. I was so impressed by the way she listened to what I wanted—again not clearly articulated by me—and then she came up with a logo that is so in keeping with the book and yet so different. One of the things I loved in both experiences is that Susan did not stop at good enough. She made small tweaks to the artwork until I was completely happy. I recommend Susan Malikowski and her DesignLeafStudio to everyone who wants their artwork to truly connect with their message."

My fiance & I spent hours scouring the internet for a save the date design that we felt reflected who we are as a couple. We didn't know what we were looking for until we found a stunning design that caught both our eyes. The image led us to DesignLeaf Studios & Susan Malikowski. From our first exchange to the day Susan handed us our finished save the dates, Susan was an absolute joy to work with. She clearly feels passionately about her art & cares deeply about providing her clients with a finished product that accurately portrays their vision. At our first meeting when we talked about concepts, she listened to our thoughts & ideas, offered her suggestions & asked questions about our event & our relationship. She wanted to know about us so that we would be reflected in her work. She immediately made us feel at ease, like we were talking to an old friend. I was concerned about pricing for custom work (including hand-painted watercolor work), but her pricing is very reasonable. There was a lot of back & forth as we rethought ideas & made adjustments. She was very patient & responded to each email promptly & thoroughly. The finished products just arrived & they are stunning. We can't wait to get them in the mail to our guests! We will certainly be ordering more pieces from her for our wedding as we continue the planning process. If you are looking for a dedicated, kind, creative, artist to create your stationary, look no further than Susan. You won't find anyone better. —Kate C., New Jersey

"Susan provided me with a great cover design for my book, Orchestrating Change. She also helped me develop an easy to follow instructional template for using the framework I described in the book and craft a logo for it. In short, her work shows up throughout my book and the book is so much the better for it. She offered a wide variety of early concepts and then helped me think through them as I filtered them down to the right one for me. And importantly, her creative approach wasn't restricted to just her design work. She was also open to introducing and working with new ideas as we went along, so that I never felt constrained by any rigid set of steps the process had to follow. She worked with me until we got it right.

Finding her was easy. I had been frustrated by the efforts and output I was seeing from my self-publisher's designer so I went into a bookstore one day and looked through the titles in the same section that mine was targeted at. Of the two books whose covers most resonated with me, she was the designer for both. So I reached out.

I would highly recommend Susan to prospective authors and publishers. In her work with me, she was attentive and perceptive in understanding my priorities, timely with getting work back to me yet patient as I wrestled with design decisions. It was a pleasure working with her and I look forward to another opportunity to do so again."

Her knowledge of the invitation types, style, color, options, etc. made it easy to decide what to do. She provided renderings that helped me visualize what the final invitation would look like and sent me color samples, and even envelopes so that we could practice handwriting the addresses! "As a book publishing colleague of Sue's for many years I can confidently attest to her professionalism. In the publishing industry, production schedules reign and everyone on the production team is required to pull their weight to meet the print date. As a jacket designer, Sue works with authors and publishers to create win-win covers—her designs combine the author's vision with the publisher's marketing aims. This can be a tricky process but Sue brings intuition and imagination to her work and executes her designs skillfully. She is dedicated to providing quality work that prints beautifully and, despite the twists and turns that accompany creative work, meets every deadline."
